Adult Functional Training

Our Adult Functional training programs offer customized, supervised and coached workouts through a semi-private “on-demand” concept.  Using many of the same principles of our athletic performance programs, our adult fitness programs are an efficient and proven effective fitness option for many of the non-competitive athletic population to improve their fitness level and education in a fun, safe and motivating environment.  Whether you still may compete as a recreational athlete or are focused on weight-loss and general wellness, PSP’s team of trainers can help customize a program specific to you. Each of our adult workouts consists of the following components:

  • Relieve trigger points (knots)
  • Improved blood circulation throughout your skin, fascia, muscles, and even tendons and ligaments
  • Lengthening of short (tight) muscles, tendons, and ligaments
  • Promotion of optimal spinal range of motion

Flexibility – The length of a muscle

Mobility – The Movement of a Joint

  • Increase Blood Flow and circulation, dilate blood vessels
  • Prepare central nervous system (CNS)
  • Increase Mind body awareness (Proprioception)

Functional activity intended to train the body to more effectively execute sudden movements through every day life.  Activities, where applicable, include:

  • Med-ball work
  • Jumping activity
  • Explosive movements
  • Sprinting


“Functional” Training includes the development of movement patterns as they relate to daily activities.  Functional Training is not a particular style or method, just exercises that actually have real world application versus exercises that don’t.

The following are Exercises that offer a Functional Benefit:

  • Squats
  • Lunges
  • Chin-ups
  • Pushups
  • Planks

The following are Exercises that are NOT Functional:

  • Leg Press
  • Leg Extensions
  • Leg Curls
  • The majority of exercises performed using weight machines

Conditioning – Cardiac health, Increase arterial and vascular health.  Here is where walking on a treadmill just doesn’t cut it.  Neither does jogging for that matter.  In fact, PSP doesn’t have treadmill. Our Energy system development includes interval activities intended to rapidly increase your heart rate, but allow ample time for recovery; then rinse and repeat.
